Why doesn't the Background Music auto-play in the gallery?
We know how important it is to create an immersive experience for your clients, and background music is a great way to enhance the emotion and mood of your gallery. While VidFlow allows you to add a background music track that is set to auto-play when someone visits the gallery, you may notice that the music doesn't always start automatically.
Here's why:
🔇 Web Browser Auto-Play Restrictions
Most modern web browsers—including Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and others—block auto-playing audio and video content by default unless the user has interacted with the page. This is a browser-level policy designed to prevent unwanted audio from playing unexpectedly, like auto-playing ads. Unfortunately, this also affects background music on gallery pages, even though it's intended to enhance the experience.
âś… Workaround: Use Password Protection
We’ve found a reliable workaround: enable password protection for your gallery.
When password protection is turned on, visitors are required to interact with the gallery (by entering a password) before accessing the content. This user interaction satisfies the browser's requirement, allowing the background music to auto-play as intended once the gallery loads.
How to Enable Password Protection:
- Open the gallery in your account dashboard
- Navigate to Deliver section
- Change the privacy to 'Anyone with a Link & Password', and set a password of your choice.
- Share the password with your client along with the gallery link.
This small step ensures that the music plays automatically and helps deliver the full, immersive experience you intended.
We are also working on introducing Gallery Covers, as an alternative solution to password-protection to bypass this limitation.
